Newby is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from California Lutheran University's Graduate School of Education. Her research focuses on developing educators' ethical decision-making skills, implementing social-emotional development programs, and improving student academic engagement and outcomes in educational environments from preschool through college. Additionally, Newby serves as a graduate assistant at the Center of Educational Excellence and Equity. In this role, her main goal is to foster collaboration among colleagues and stakeholders to create inclusive and supportive learning communities dedicated to achieving excellence and equity in all educational settings.
