Our Mission

The mission of the Center for Educational Excellence & Equity (formerly known as the Center for Innovative Learning) is to actualize the Graduate School of Education’s mission statement “to prepare administrator, counselor, and teacher leaders who advocate for educational equity and access, grounded in scholarship that advances innovation and addresses community-based needs in P-20 schools.” In particular, CEEE’s aim is to advance the collective knowledge through both research and practice to center the GSOE’s four guiding principles of equity, inquiry into practice, authentic context, and community. Our vision for CEEE is to be a clearinghouse and resource for educators in K-12 and higher education regarding educational equity.

Several key initiatives will be centered for academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025:

  • Assess through multiple “talking sessions” with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders and partners desired opportunities around diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging (DEIJB) work in education that CEEE might offer;
  • Establish a distinguished speaker series on equity in education, with the goal of two talks a year (one in fall, one in spring);
  • Continue the current professional development and small research grants available to GSOE faculty annually;
  • Provide resources on DEIJB topics pertaining to K-12 and college student educators/counselors/administrators, both through in-person and virtual trainings/workshops as well as research and practice briefs.
