President's DEIJB Committee
The President’s DEIJB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging) President's Committee aims to foster an inclusive environment that honors and celebrates the diverse heritage, history, and contributions of all community members at California Lutheran University. It will spearhead campus-wide events and programming strengthen the sense of belonging and awareness within the university community.
- Create and support events that celebrate and educate about diverse heritages and histories throughout the academic year to foster a sense of belonging for the Cal Lutheran community.
- Collaborate with campus partners to enhance belonging and inclusion, as well as visibility of and participation in DEIJB events.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of committee activities in promoting belonging within the campus community.
- Be informed of DEIJB efforts happening at Cal Lutheran and to advance them when possible.
- Aid in steering, assessing and advising the Cal Lutheran community in DEIJB priorities and ongoing practices.
Inclusive Campus Climate: Foster an inclusive and welcoming campus environment through initiatives that promote understanding, respect, and celebration of diversity. This can involve sensitivity training, cultural events, and platforms for marginalized voices.
Data-Driven Practices and Accountability: Collect and analyze data related to student demographics, academic performance, and experiences to inform decision-making. Use this data to identify areas for improvement and hold the institution accountable for progress in DEIJB initiatives.
Promoting a Culture of Belonging: Develop initiatives that actively promote a sense of belonging for all students, including cultural centers, affinity groups, and events that celebrate the diversity of the student body.
