Justice Talks: The Laramie Project

You are invited to the first discussion in a new CEJ series called "Justice Talks." Justice Talks are discussions centering an important justice issue. "Justice Talks: The Laramie Project" is a collaboration between the CEJ, Theater & Dance, Religion, and Philosophy. Prof. Christine Cummings, Prof. Peter Carlson, and I will cofacilitate a discussion about LGBTQ+ identity, hate crimes, faith, justice, and punishment.

This semester, the Theater & Dance department is putting on a production of "The Laramie Project" (originally developed by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project). Unlike other plays, the script comes verbatim from several interviews that were conducted with locals reflecting on the hate crime murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The play will run from October 15-19 and this discussion is an opportunity to talk and learn ahead of the play.
