About

Valeria Makarova holds degrees in both business and science: MBA with emphasis in International Business from California Lutheran University, and Ph.D. in Biology from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Russia. Valeria held senior research positions with the Department of Biophysics, MSU, Moscow, Russia; conducted research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO, USA; coordinated and supervised international R&D collaborations and held visiting positions at universities in Europe and Asia. Valeria is working to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Her expertise is in teaching and consulting on management and marketing of innovative technologies. Her professional interests also include support and promotion of sustainable and socially responsible business practices. Dr. Makarova also serves as the Senior Director of Teaching Effectiveness at the School of Management.
