Tom Smith is Vic President of Public Relations and Special Events at Forest Lawn. Responsible for community partnerships, film shoots, marketing events, public relations, and sponsorships; Smith leads a master calendar of more than two-hundred programs per year. Events include Armenian Festivals, Black History Month, Dia de los Muertos, holiday celebrations, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, 5K Walk Runs, and countless community partner events. Reporting departments that Tom oversees includes Audio Visual Production, Community Events, Special Events, Public Relations, and Videography.
Tom holds two MS degrees, one in Management with a concentration in Hospitality and Events; the other in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations through Lasell University in Newton, MA. He earned his BA in Communication from Cal State Fullerton and an AA degree in Fine Arts from Cerritos College.
Tom earned both his CMP and CMM hospitality industry designation. A 40+ year member of Meeting Professionals International, Tom is past president of the Southern California Chapter. At the international level, Tom served on the MPI Board of Trustees and chaired five international committees.
Tom has served California Lutheran University, currently as a senior adjunct faculty member, since 2012.
A resident of Porter Ranch, Tom has three sons, six grandchildren, and six dogs.
